Setup Order

The speed and stability of setup can be optimized with the following procedure. You may need to adapt the suggested default procedure to your circumstances. Follow these steps to set up your devices:

  • Start the Connect Mesh app and switch to "Setup Mode" if necessary. Create a new network and give it a meaningful name.
  • All mesh devices are at the start disconnected from the power supply.
  • First, set up all actuators, i.e., (Mesh Boxes, ceiling lights, 2K Interface, etc.). Only ever connect the device you want to include in the network next to the power supply. This way, usually only one entry appears during the device search.
  • The permanently powered devices that have been set up remain connected to the power supply afterward and already ensure a stable mesh network.
  • Now set up all control devices, i.e., wall switches, remote controls, and sensors. Link these with the already set up actuators and rooms. Set up missing groups (if you link sensors directly with devices, a group is automatically set up).
  • Set up scenes. Use room or group control to bring the involved lights into the desired state.
  • Switch to Control Mode.
  • Set up your favorites for your home screen. This way, you can access rooms, groups, scenes, and individual devices with a single button press.
  • Create schedules for your installation. This allows you to control your lighting at defined times and weekdays automatically, for example.
  • If you have a Connect Gateway, set it up now.
  • Make a backup of your network. For example, export the .connect file to your smartphone and save it in a secure folder or cloud drive.

If it is not possible for you to connect the installed devices individually to the power, you may see a multitude of devices listed in the device search. The device names and icons already give you a hint as to which type of device it is. To uniquely identify a device, you can make devices flash from the search list. To do this, press the button to the left of the device name. After a short connection time, the device itself and/or its status LED should flash in the same rhythm as the previously pressed button (only the status LED flashes on unconfigured mesh boxes).
