How do I set up the Connect Gateway?

Add the Gateway​

Like all other devices of a mesh network, the Connect Gateway has to be added first:

  1. Switch to 'Setup mode'.
  2. Go to the 'Devices' tab and press 'Add'.
  3. Wait briefly until the Gateway appears.
  4. Select the device to start the provisioning process.

Once added to the network there is nothing more to do from the installer's side. The configuration of the gateway and the connection to the internet will happen at the enduser's location and it will be their task to connect to their internet router.

Connect to the internet​

After receiving the network and importing it to the smartphone or simply switching the app mode, the home screen in control mode will guide the enduser through the next steps of the Connect Gateway setup. To enable an internet connection follow these steps:

  1. Import the network and connect to it in 'Control mode' or switch mode.
  2. On home screen you can find a infobox telling you that the Gateway has to be configured.
  3. Connect the Gateway to your router via an ethernet cable.
  4. Tap "Press configuration".
  5. On next screen tap "Connect to the cloud".
  6. Login or register your Connect Cloud account.
  7. Gateway is now linked to the cloud and the left status LED of the gateway now lights up permanently.

Connect via WiFi​

WiFi is not recommended for the Connect Gateway. Always prefer a wired ethernet connection for better reliability and performance.

If ethernet is not available, you can connect the Gateway via WiFi instead. First, enable the WiFi option in Expert Settings under Setup mode.

With WiFi enabled, a "Use WiFi" option appears during Gateway configuration between step 4 ("Press configuration") and step 5 ("Connect to the cloud"). Select it to enter your WiFi credentials and connect the Gateway wirelessly.

Changing or removing WiFi credentials​

To remove stored WiFi credentials, open the Gateway's device settings page and tap "Delete WiFi credentials". After clearing the credentials, tap the connection status to either set up an ethernet connection or configure new WiFi credentials.
