How to Share a Network?
The sharing of a network can be triggered in several places in the app:
- On the dashboard in setup mode
- In the settings within the network
- On the overview page of the networks
After selecting 'Share', a selection opens. Select 'Share network via Connect Cloud'. The network is then loaded into the Connect Cloud, which does not require a Connect Cloud account. After a short moment, a QR code is displayed on your device, which can be scanned by another person. Alternatively, you can also copy the link to the network or share it directly in a third-party app. When the QR code is scanned or the shared link is opened, the network is automatically downloaded from the cloud to the new device.
You must repeat this process to generate a separate QR code for each subsequent participant. This ensures that each participant is assigned their own network address. Scanning the same QR code on two different devices will lead to an error notification.
Share network file
You can share your network with others. For this, a .connect file is exported which you can send to a contact via any smartphone app.
You must export a separate network file for every subsequent participant. This way, each additional participant can be assigned their own network address. For this purpose, a number is attached to each .connect file. If multiple people use the same .connect file, after a while the network will no longer function properly.
Edit Shared Networks
If person A shares their network with person B and person B modifies it, this change is not synchronised with person A's app (even if they are both on the same network). Please always arrange the use of your mesh network so that only person A (who initially set up the network) makes all changes. Only this person should export and share networks. This is the only way to ensure that the state of the network is kept in sync with the state in the app.
The sharing functionality will be enhanced in the future with an optional cloud-based synchronisation and backup function. This will facilitate the synchronisation of a network between multiple participants.
